About SOMA Therapy

I provide assessment-led sports therapy and massage for people who want practical support with performance, recovery and regulation.

I work with a wide range of people, from gym-goers, runners, and hybrid athletes to those managing chronic pain, disabilities, or ongoing tension. Support is also available for neurodivergent clients and young people.

Each session is guided by what your body needs on the day.

Treatment is adjusted based on how you move, how you train, and how your body responds.

Pressure, pace, and approach are tailored to support recovery and comfort, without pushing beyond what is helpful.

How I work

My approach is calm, clear, and structured. Sessions are focused and practical. There is no fixed routine. Each appointment begins with a short assessment. From there, treatment is guided and adapted throughout.

The aim is to reduce tension, improve movement, and support your body in a way that feels manageable and effective.

Experience

Alongside my sports therapy work, I bring over 23 years’ experience supporting people with a wide range of needs.

This includes working with children and adults, including neurodivergent individuals and those with a range of disabilities, as well as people experiencing high levels of stress or physical demand.

This experience shapes how I work.

Sessions are predictable, respectful, and tailored to the individual.

Working with young people

I also work with children and young people where sports therapy is appropriate.

All sessions are fully consent-led and age-appropriate.

The focus is on physical support only.

Clear professional boundaries are maintained at all times.

Background

Before moving into sports therapy, I worked in care within the health and social care sector, including within children’s homes, ranging from support roles to higher senior management roles.

I supported children and young people aged 5–18 in complex and high-demand environments.

This experience continues to inform how I work today.

I have a clear understanding of safeguarding, consent, and appropriate practice.

I hold a current DBS and work in a way that is transparent and reassuring for families, professionals, and organisations.

My approach is trauma-informed, while remaining clearly within the scope of sports therapy.

I do not provide counselling or psychological treatment.

Training and movement experience

I am also someone who trains.

I have a background in gym-based training, running, HYROX, and mixed martial arts.

I have competed and understand the physical demands this places on the body.

I have experienced injuries, setbacks, and periods of rehabilitation.

This informs how I approach individual treatments.

I understand the difference between normal training discomfort, injury risk, and the tension that builds when recovery is missed or physical load is high.

The aim is simple: help you move better, recover properly, and reduce ongoing tension in the body.
